Whimsical Wedding in Highlands NC

Florals and film with a Highlands, NC wedding? Count me in.

Full of the most beautiful colors, Abby and Reid’s wedding was picture-perfect. Nestled in the mountains of Cashier, North Carolina, the couple said “I do” surrounded by the shades of summer. With a fashion-forward mindset, this wedding was full of vintage pieces and in the cutest town.

THE VENUE:

Having grown up in Highlands, North Carolina, Abby knew she wanted her day to be in the middle of the mountains near her hometown. This Highlands, NC wedding was jaw-dropping, whimsical, and all things joyful. Taking place at the Trillium Links Country Club, Abby and Reid turned the already stunning scenery into a floral dream full of colors and class. With the flower gardens surrounding their venue, they filled the space with even more bright and beautiful flowers to take the floral feel to the new level.

GETTING READY:

While preparing for the big day, Abby got ready at the historic Highlands Inn. This was such a sweet time with her three bridesmaids as they did their hair, makeup, and spent time together. During this time, we snapped plenty of photos of her and all the details involved.

A big lover of film, we also took a Super 8 video of her day to capture all the highlights.

THE FIRST LOOK:

A first look in a wildflower field? DREAMY. Abby and Reid decided to see each other for the first time on their wedding day with a first look. While we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to find a wildflower field, Abby found a field with all purple flowers — matching her bridesmaids dresses perfectly. It could not have been more perfect as the flowers fit the theme of the wedding so beautifully. It was magical!

With a stunning dress from Varca Bridal, Abby shined on this day. Her flowers were full of color and whimsical and magical, with all florals done by Sweet Stems Flower Bar.

Abby and Reid were absolutely precious together. Their love for each other truly embodied the theme of this day: magic.

THE CEREMONY:

With a beautiful view overlooking the mountains, the ceremony was held at the Trillium Links Country Club near Highlands, NC. Every detail was planned so specifically — from both pastel and bright colors, to the trolley that transported guests, and everything in between. Everything was truly magical!

While Abby and Reid were prepared with a rain tent they didn’t end up needing, the ceremony was held outside of it and it all worked out nicely.

For the ceremony, Abby had a seat specially set aside for her grandfather who passed away just prior to her getting married. It was so precious to see how he was honored and still present with them that day.

After Abby and Reid said “I do” in front of their family and friends, they did a flower toss as they exited and it was amazing!

THE RECEPTION:

The next part of the day was STUNNING. The reception had so much color throughout it from the florals and the table arrangements were to die for! There were candles that lit the space perfectly and the entirely setup was beautiful.

From the first dance to the cake cutting and everything in between, the celebration was whimsical in every way!

Once the party really started, Abby changed into a second stunning dress and the guests had a blast! Abby and Reid were sent off with everyone they loved via sparkler exit that felt so vintage and classy. Just before the night ended, we grabbed some last minute shots on the beautiful trolley — photos I KNOW they’ll show their kids one day!
